Sport & Music
We encourage our children to be fit, healthy and active. We develop these skills through our PE curriculum, extra-curricular programme and sporting competitions against other schools. Our sports teams compete with other schools in the area in swimming galas, gymnastics, athletic and other sporting competitions, festivals and tournaments e.g. football, netball, cricket, rugby and cross-country.
With all our sporting activities, the aim is for the pupils to participate competitively with particular emphasis on enjoyment, sportsmanship and being part of a team. We enjoy a great deal of success and have developed an excellent reputation for sport. Our children are often noted for their behaviour and sportsmanship.
Music and Drama
Lamphey Primary School has a strong musical tradition. We have a Year 6 School Choir that performs at various events throughout the year. In addition to the normal school music curriculum, there is an opportunity for children to learn the Ukulele and piano.
Special Events – Our school hall is very spacious with a sound system complete with microphones and quadraphonic speakers. Throughout the year we hold a number of special events including our Eisteddfod to celebrate St. David’s Day, Christmas concerts and special assemblies. We are very fortunate to have strong links with the church where we annually celebrate Harvest and Christmas with carol concerts.
Year 6 pupils annually preform Shakespeare as part of the Schools Shakespeare Festival. These incredible performances have frequently been talk of the county and have been recognised nationally as exceptional. Our school is part of a wonderful community and the support we have from parents whilst holding these events is outstanding. The children always have the opportunity to perform to large and appreciative audiences which is a great way for developing their confidence and performance skills.
