Paddlewest Monday 29th June and Wednesday 1st July

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please find below an overview reminder of the sessions that will be taking place on Monday June 29th and Wednesday 1st July for all our Year 3-6 learners.
Year 3 – am Monday 29th June
Year 4 – pm Monday 29th June
Year 5 – am Wednesday 1st July
Year 6 – pm Wednesday 1st July
Please see below information from Paddlewest regarding sessions.
Years 3 and 4 – Paddle Start Award
Fun introductions to being on the water. We will not be planning on getting deliberately wet, but there remains a small chance that it could happen. We have found that some of the more adventurous students have been requesting to get into the water.
Year 5 and 6 – Paddle Safer Award
More in depth but age-appropriate lessons on how to keep ourselves safer in and around the water. We will aim to get wet on these, so we practice rescuing ourselves. However, getting in the water is not mandatory and people should not be put off coming for fear of it.
What to bring:
Swimming costume to wear under a wetsuit that children can borrow.
· They can bring their own wetsuit if they have it
· Best practice has been students arriving with their swimming costume on under their school clothes to speed up changing time and maximise time on the water.
Change of shoes that can get wet (old trainers best, no sliders or flip flops)
Towel
Sunscreen
Sunhat
Water Bottle
Warm Jacket to wear afterwards
Carrier bag to put their clothes into while on the water and to take wet clothes home
We will be travelling by coach to the water safety sessions which are held at the Paddlewest Centre, Pembroke Millpond, being led and organised by the centre staff and accompanied by their class staff. All children will be able to eat their lunch at school and will not require a packed lunch.
Should you require further information, please contact the school.
