Learner Journey Milestones
At Lamphey Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every learner achieves their very best. To support this, we have clearly defined year group expectations that outline the knowledge, skills and understanding children should develop in literacy and numeracy during each stage of their learning journey to support their wider curricular learning.
These expectations help to maintain ahigh standards for all learners while providing a clear pathway for progress from one year group to the next. They enable teachers to plan learning effectively, identify strengths and areas for development, and provide the right level of challenge and support for every child.
For learners, year group expectations provide clear goals and help them understand what successful learning looks like. For parents and carers, they offer valuable insight into what children are learning and how progress is measured. For teachers, they ensure consistency, high expectations and a shared understanding of the standards we want every child to achieve.
Whilst every child develops at their own pace, our year group expectations reflect the ambitious outcomes we believe all learners can work towards with the right support, encouragement and opportunities. By working together—learners, families and staff—we can ensure that every child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed both now and in the future.
To support this partnership, downloadable documents for each year group are available below. These documents outline the key expectations for reading, writing, mathematics and wider learning, helping parents and carers to understand what their child is working towards throughout the year. We encourage families to use these resources at home to support their child’s learning journey and celebrate their progress.
